GOHI Newsmail – October 2024

“What He opens no one can shut, and what He shuts no one can open”

Dear GOHI Friends,

It’s just a year since, in faith, we launched Gates of Hope International (GOHI). God opened the door and we walked through it, not knowing what He had in store! But when it is God who opens a door, I have learnt not to be surprised at the blessing that follows!

We adopted the same name for this new work that Steve had used for the ministry in Israel, Gates of Hope (Sha’arei Tikva in Hebrew) – a name which has deep meaning for all the GOHI ministries internationally.

God’s Vision and Calling

As a Network, GOHI encourages and supports each individual Leader and Ministry in their response to the vision God has given them.

Following the conference in Turkey, where I was privileged to teach 70 Arab Christian leaders from across the Middle East, Sameh and Liz were inspired to hold a leaders training event in the UK to record foundational teaching in Arabic. At first, this seemed like a bridge too far for the resources we then had to hand. But God intervened!

We shared the vision, people prayed and gave and all the objectives for this ground-breaking GOHI Arab World Teaching Conference were met. We now have a bank of video recordings, in English and Arabic, which will be used in the twenty-two Arabic speaking nations and with Arabic speakers across the world. We are deeply grateful to all our supporters who made this possible.

It is a huge privilege to have a small part in seeing the fulfilment of a move of God prophesied in Isaiah 19, especially from verses 21 and 22 where it says: “So the Lord will make himself known to the Egyptians, and in that day they will acknowledge the Lord . . . they will turn to the Lord and he will respond to their pleas and heal them.”

Just before the conference, Sameh was hospitalised for five days investigating a possible heart issue! We thank the Lord that as people prayed, Sameh was released by his Consultant and able to complete the translating assignment! And, praise God, we have just heard that after a subsequent scan the Consultant has now declared that his heart is fine and there are no further problems! We are deeply thankful to the Lord for answered prayer.

GOHI Leaders Conference in June

The foundational year of GOHI concluded with almost all the GOHI leaders meeting together in Switzerland, where we experienced an outpouring of God’s presence and grace. Deep relational bonds were established across the network, endorsing our collective call to mission, with our lives laid down for Him and freshly envisioned for the season ahead.

Since then there has been a steady stream of enquiries from other ministries who would like to become part of the GOHI Network and answer the call of God to healing and discipleship in these end-times, which is at the heart of GOHI’s mission.

Around the World

In Israel, Steve is pioneering a special Creativity and Healing course for Messianic believers living in a traumatised nation and he has opened the door for me to teach by Zoom into congregations throughout Israel, translated into Hebrew. God is finding a way even in the midst of war. Please pray that GOHI, through Sha’arei Tikva, will continue to be able to encourage, nurture and bring God’s hope and healing to the Body of Messiah in Israel.

The team in Romania have been in Paris for a week ministering in a 1000-strong Romanian Church; the Asian Ministries teams are hard at work developing new healing courses to meet today’s needs.

In my next letter I will be bringing you news from Eastern Europe and, also, of a remarkable work, now part of GOHI, that has grown up in Kolkata, pioneered by leaders who trained on NETS at Pierrepont.

Spiritual DNA

The spiritual DNA of GOHI remains the same as that which was birthed in us by the Holy Spirit back in 1986. The commission to bring healing to God’s people, so that they can be true and effective disciples, is still the focus of our life and ministry, with the added objective of seeing the ministry established in local churches and becoming central to church life, evangelism and growth.

Healing and evangelism were inseparable in the ministry of Jesus and the life of the early church. Nothing has changed. Our hearts’ cry for God’s people, the Church, the Body of Christ, is to follow in the footsteps of Jesus, doing the works of the Kingdom of God.

The End-Time Church

We passionately believe that it is God’s relational family that will fulfil His purposes in the end-time church so that it can be strong in the face of persecution and that “the gates of hell shall not prevail against it”.

We are all children of our Heavenly Father, sons and heirs of His promises and are commissioned by Jesus to bring the Kingdom of God down to earth, as it is in Heaven (the Lord’s prayer). For, as Jesus said, “This gospel of the kingdom shall be proclaimed in all the world as a witness to all nations, and then the end shall come.” (Matthew 24:14)

For Fiona and I, our desire is to use our forty years of experience as a source of inspiration, encouragement and wisdom to all the ministries, new and old, that are embraced by the GOHI Network. We are privileged to do so and be harnessed together with them in covenantal relationship, bringing in some of the end-time harvest. I will be continuing my Zoom teaching into both Israel and the Arab speaking world and we will be going to Romania next week where, again, fresh doors are opening.
