I occasionally do the Saturday Crossword in the Daily Telegraph. A few weeks ago, the answer to one of the clues was Pygmalion. I knew this name as the title of a musical and of a book by George Bernard Shaw, but I found myself curious to know more about who was Pygmalion?

God loves books! He put 66 of them in the best book ever! And over my life time I have had the privilege of being involved in book writing and publishing for close on sixty years! I thank God that I had the joy of seeing Sovereign World Ltd become part of Ellel Ministries, publishing many vital Christian books from many different authors – books which have been a constant source of blessing to people across the nations.

Faith in Action – a New Year Message for 2025

An inactive faith that shakes nothing will never change the world. The ministry of Jesus was love in action. It shook the religious hierarchy to the core with unmatchable, life-transforming, power and authority. The Pharisees tried to quench the fire at Calvary, but the cross became the gateway to resurrection life which, empowered by the Holy Spirit, changed the history of the world.

In the Midst of Darkness . . . There is HOPE!

Right now the darkness over our nation has reached a new intensity. But just as the stars shine the brightest on the darkest of nights, the ‘Lord of all Hopefulness’ still reigns and His Star is still guiding those who choose to follow Him – even in the midst of extreme darkness.

The Peace of Jerusalem

The Psalmist urges us to pray for the peace of Jerusalem (Psalm 122:6-9). As wars rage around Israel we are having to face the reality that these prayers will only be fully answered when the Prince of Peace returns to Jerusalem as prophesied in Zechariah 14.

A Heart-Broken Remnant Rises to its Calling

My wife, Fiona, bought a bag of remnants – off-cuts of little obvious use or value – from the Harris Tweed shop, as a present for a very creative friend. The next time we saw her she was wearing an amazing jacket, entirely made up of remnant pieces of Harris Tweed cloth, which had been carefully sewn together to provide a unique and warm item of clothing.

Veterans in the Front Line – Easter Message 2024

He is risen! Oh what a glorious message – and it’s true! May the joy of the resurrection be yours this Eastertide.

When Jesus rose from the dead a trumpet call went out from Jerusalem which heralded the birth of the church. The end times had begun and they won’t be over until Jesus comes again and puts His feet down in Jerusalem on the Mount of Olives (Zechariah 14:4). Between now and then we have work to do!

THE COMING TSUNAMI

Tsunamis are caused by earthquakes under the sea. When the geological foundations of the world shift suddenly, waves of unstoppable power are the result. People playing on the beaches, unaware of what’s happening and ignorant of any warnings, are suddenly and catastrophically swept away.
