GOHI October Newsmail 2026

Dear GOHI Friends,
Yesterday I received an amazing and heart-warming letter. While it relates to teaching I gave many years ago, it precisely echoes the leadership training needs which all the ministries of GOHI are seeking to replicate across the world. The letter came from Kevin and Deborah who have built a remarkable work from scratch, in Chennai, India:
“We are one of the couples blessed by your teaching in 1994 and the books you wrote. We are having a wonderful ministry in Chennai, India. When we came to your school we had not started any church. After returning from the UK we started a church in a city slum, now we have around 800 people in our church and have started three more churches in villages. We would love to come and share our testimony and glorify God’s name. You have a special place in our hearts. We are praying for you all.”
I wept with thanksgiving when I realised the depth and magnitude of the fruit that can come from just two lives which were impacted by the Lord through clear leadership training in healing and discipleship.
Then, only last week, a lady wrote from Korea to say:
“For many years, your books and teachings on biblical healing, deliverance, and inner restoration have been an absolute lighthouse and blessing in my faith journey. Through your writings, I have experienced God’s profound grace, truth, and love in a deeply personal way. Words cannot fully express how thankful I am for your life’s dedication to bringing God’s healing and hope to the Body of Christ worldwide.”
Forty Years On!
It’s forty years now since I left the world of publishing and set out on my own personal faith journey. So, it was not surprising that the third verse of one of Charles Wesley’s greatest hymns absolutely gripped me at the time, and became my personal dedication for whatever lay ahead of me in 1986.
“My talents, gifts, and graces, Lord,
Into Thy blessed hands receive,
And let me live to preach Thy Word,
And let me to Thy glory live;
My every sacred moment spend
in publishing the sinner’s Friend.”
The last two lines of this verse became my life’s objective. ‘My every sacred moment’ includes the whole of life, to the last breath! Even though seasons change, there is no such thing as retirement in the Kingdom of God. The great commission Jesus gave to His disciples in Matthew 28:19-20 is valid for the whole of time.
For me, personally, therefore, the fortieth anniversary of my life in ministry wasn’t a signal to put my slippers on and go to sleep for the rest of my days, in front of a cosy log fire! It was a reminder that there is much work still to do, and I marvelled at how God has provided in GOHI a means of serving the Body of Christ, which is bearing such fruit across the world. The news coming in from Romania, Canada, India, Singapore, Israel, the Arabic speaking worlds of the Middle East and many other places, gets me out of bed every morning excited by what God is doing and what He is going to do next!
We are especially rejoicing that the Singapore team have been able to complete the purchase of a wonderful new facility as their main teaching and ministry centre for the Asian region – a place that will be mightily used for the Kingdom of God, training people to serve across the whole of South-East Asia. On the last day that they needed to hand over the money, they were $140,000 short. But God answered their prayers and a large donation came in at the very last minute! In Lebanon and Egypt our Middle East team have experienced a great anointing on their work. It is thrilling to know the blessings and fruit that they are experiencing on the ground.
Charles Wesley had the gift of being able to condense extraordinary truth into just a few lines of life-impacting words. The first two lines of the hymn has always been my prayer
“Give me the faith which can remove
And sink the mountain to a plain.”
and it’s still my prayer today – that through the exercise of believing faith, GOHI will continue to push over the hurdles and flatten the mountains that the enemy tries to put in the way of those who are doing the works of the Kingdom of God.
What Came Next!
After their forty years of wilderness preparation, the Children of Israel entered their Promised Land. As I mulled over God’s faithfulness over such a long time in ministry, I sensed God was showing me that, through the work of GOHI, we also are entering a Promised Land – a season when the needs of the hurting and broken would become so great and obvious that the Church would begin to explode with the reality that it is ONLY JESUS who has the answers for the manifest needs of a generation that has grown up ignorant of His saving love.
I believe this is the season for an end-times fulfilment of the promises from Isaiah 61:1-3, about healing the broken-hearted and setting the captives free – perhaps in a way which will utterly surprise us – and the wider church. The impact will be such that formerly broken lives will become the ‘oaks of righteousness’, who will carry a message to the nations which can only be given by those who know first-hand the redeeming and healing salvation that Jesus won for us on the cross.
This is the message which is at the core of what God has birthed in all the ministries which are part of GOHI. The roads which pass through the Gates of Hope are beginning to be a highway, trodden by those with a story to tell to the nations of what God has done.
I’m excited! I may be old in physical years, but my heart still beats with the excitement and vision of youth (Isaiah 40:31)! As I put my hope afresh in the Lord, I’m praying for a renewal of strength. And I’m trimming the feathers of my spiritual wings, just wondering what God has in store for GOHI as, together, we soar into the spiritual reality of a church which actually believes the fullness of the Gospel, and dares to proclaim and live out that truth in the midst of a tsunami of the enemy’s lies.
Through the work of GOHI, God has renewed my vision and opened my eyes afresh to the challenge of the Gospel. Many have spurned their invitations to the banquet of truth and reality that Jesus laid before the church, and made a thousand excuses for not being there (Luke 14:18-20). But today, Jesus is raising up the under-shepherds to respond to Jesus’s challenge to “go out into the highways and byways and urge them to come in, that my house may be full” (Luke 14:23). “Invite the poor, the crippled, the lame, the blind and you will be blessed” said Jesus. (Luke 14:13-14)
We are seeing amazing fruit in many parts of the world. God’s army is on the move. The Gospel of the Kingdom is going out. The time is NOW!
Filling up the Tank!
All of life is a journey and at regular intervals along the way we have to stop and get our ‘tanks’ filled up for the next stage. I pray that as you have read this latest Newsmail, the Lord has been encouraging and inspiring you to share in the work of GOHI in both prayer and giving. God has blessed your past giving, in amazing ways across the ministry. But now we need the tank filling up again for the next stage. We will be deeply grateful for whatever you can give to help take the work forward in so many different areas of the world through GOHI.
Every blessing in Christ Jesus
