GOHI Newsmail – December 2024
Dear GOHI Friends,
2024 has been a year of extraordinary blessing, but lived out in a world where wars, rumours of wars, floods and disasters, extraordinary politics and governmental decisions have grabbed the headlines week after week. To quote the prophet Joel, we are living in a season when the “the joy of mankind is withered away” (Joel 1:12), as our TV screens bombard us with images of suffering from so many different parts of the world.
Yet, in the midst of an ever-darkening world, we have also witnessed first-hand people being drawn to the Lord by the Holy Spirit, receiving salvation and having their lives transformed by His presence. Many of these are in some of the spiritually darkest parts of the world – Middle East and North Africa – Arab people coming to the Lord in fulfilment of end-time prophecy. We can, therefore, also echo Joel’s words when he says “The Lord has done great things” (Joel 1:21).
Within GOHI, there has been so much happening around the world that it’s hard to know where to start! To keep it all within the framework of a letter is impossible – so here’s a selection:
Message from GOHI Kolkata, India
“We have just inaugurated our amazing new building. Since training on NETS at Pierrepont, God has gone ahead of us in building and equipping a wonderful home for the ministry – known locally as the DHES. In addition to it being a ministry and training centre for the work, we also run social and educational programmes for the community, helping, especially, to meet the needs of vulnerable women and children.
Our Church Fellowship – known as the Global Prayer House – also meets here. In November this year we held a 9-day course of healing and deliverance training for 15 people. Most come from backgrounds where they have been involved in many occult practices and some of them have gone through much trauma and abuse. Through the teaching and prayer ministry they are gloriously delivered and healed and moving forward in freedom in their home situations.
We are so grateful for the encouragement and prayer support of GOHI.”
And More News from Elpis Ministries – GOHI in Romania.
Jilly Lyon Taylor writes: “Following the launch of a new Romanian Modular Training School with Peter and Fiona in October, I was delighted to return with David and Michelle Moza to snow-covered Iasi in November, near the border with Moldova, to teach a course on the Holy Spirit. The people were so receptive and hungry for God. At the end there was spontaneous thanksgiving and worship and some wonderful testimonies of what God had done.
Elpis is being powerfully used by God to bring healing and training to many across the nation. They are running courses most weekends in four major cities – Cluj, Timisoara, Bucharest and Iasi – and are growing effective ministry teams in each of these areas.
After the course I preached on the Sunday at a local church, mentioning from Isaiah 61, that Jesus is “good news for the poor”. I didn’t know that there would be several people there who were not Christians. What a joy to discover that they gave their lives to the Lord amid a queue of those who were asking for healing prayer. There were many tears from those witnessing it – tears of joy! It was a truly memorable and wonderful trip.”
Sr Sabine’s News from Switzerland
Peter Writes: “Sr. Sabine has been the driving force, growing and developing the work in Switzerland for many years. Her amazing gifts, linked with deep humility, have long been recognised and now she has been made the head of the evangelical, protestant order of nuns where she has lived and worked for decades. It was an enormous privilege to be there and share in the commissioning of her life to the ministry God has called her to. It’s great news also that Margrit Kuratli has stepped up into the GOHI leadership role to further grow and develop the work in Switzerland.”
Living Bridge Ministries UK
Jill Southern Writes: “Living Bridge is gathering speed and momentum. 2025 is going to be a very busy and special year as we see Jesus working to restore wounded lives. How exciting! We need to be boldly proclaiming that Jesus is the only answer to the deepest needs of the human race. He came to seek and to save that which was lost, to triumph over darkness as the Light of the World.
One person wrote: ‘The Freedom from Fear day was brilliant – a huge thank you for the compassion, love and insightful and skilled prayer ministry that I was given. I am so grateful for Living Bridge – it is a life saver for many people.’
For this reason God has raised up Living Bridge to declare that salvation is in no one other than Jesus Christ and that salvation includes healing in body, soul and spirit. We are so thankful for the fruit in our first year and we continue to pray for God’s blessing on the people he has sent us to serve. Jesus is the answer and we belong to Him. He lives in us and we live in Him.”
Pressing On:
Each month I will be sharing more of what God is doing through GOHI. We are so thankful to each one of you for your encouragement, prayers and giving which have enabled the ministry to get established and grow into the vision God gave.
Other new and growing ministries are wanting to join the GOHI Network. It feels like God has a year-long ‘Advent Calendar’ stretching ahead of us, with many unopened doors awaiting their time to be opened! It is clear that God has a wider purpose for GOHI and we look forward with prayerful anticipation to all that He has in store for the ministry in 2025.
