GOHI Newsmail – February 2025

Dear GOHI Friends,

There are many references to gates and doorways in Scripture, and in Revelation 3:8 we read that when God opens doors no man can shut them. God has been opening many doors for Gates of Hope International (GOHI), and we are now being stretched in ways that we never expected!

In Isaiah 55 we read how the ways of God are different from ours. I have often said that, from our perspective, God’s straight lines can look like a zig-zag! We do not serve a God who is stagnant but rather a Living God from whom flows the rivers of life and who acts, not according to the plans and ideas of man, but to fulfil His eternal purpose.

As we are walking forward in response to vision, taking the good news of the gospel wherever the gates are open, we are finding fertile ground which the Lord has prepared. His purposes are always that we should go through the doors He opens and to trust Him. And that is exactly what we are seeking to do. Taking risks with Him is the essence of faith.

Swing Wide the Gates

Chris Bowater expressed this perfectly in his classic song, Swing Wide the Gates.

Let the King come in
Swing wide the gates
Make a way for Him!

These are exciting and challenging times as we look to Him for every step of the way, in many different parts of the world, welcoming the King and making ways for Him through GOHI.

Gates of Hope

In Egypt Mansour and Nermeen reported on their first healing retreat, as the new GOHI leaders in Cairo, with thirty 18-38 year olds – “most were very young and the Lord met them all. He surprised us with his heavy presence, words of knowledge and His healing touch.” We thank the Lord for many reports coming out of the Middle East of healing and deliverance.

In Italy, with Giovanna’s inspiration, Fiona and I will be leading a team at our first GOHI conference in a church in Milan, believing this will throw open the gates to a wider work in Italy.

In Romania, Elpis (GOHI Romania, under David and Michelle’s leadership) is making inroads all over the country and into the surrounding nations as well. In June, Fiona and Julie will be leading a large Creativity event there, training teams in how God uses creative expression to release His anointing for healing and miracles.

There is beautiful and life-changing fruit from the Living Bridge healing events here in the UK. One lady wrote to say, “The prayer day stopped me in my tracks – it was so rich and meaningful and I am incredibly grateful. My desire is to be who the Lord wants me to be and do more of what He wants me to do.”

And as the work continues across all the GOHI ministries – from Israel to Singapore and India to Canada, this is the cry which is at the heart of GOHI – to see people set free by the Lord, so that they can be what God wants them to be!

Further Growth

We are now getting approaches from churches and other established ministries who share the GOHI vision and want to be part of what God is doing. A new day is dawning – we are beginning to see what God has had in store for GOHI beyond the horizon – working with centres and ministries in different parts of the world and introducing the GOHI vision into the life and ministry of local churches.

My humanity cries out, “Oh God, Help!” But my Spirit responds “Oh God, Yes!” I woke up this morning singing, “Onward Christian soldiers”!
